We, the faculty at Department of History believes that knowledge about past is power and that knowledge strengthens the mind, body and spirit of humans and make them socially useful citizens. History was taught in K.E. College since 1978, as part of Department of Economics. In 1999-2000 Model II B.A History (Voc.) Communication & Publishing Science Programme was introduced and the combined Department of Economics and History was bifurcated. Since then, Department of History is an independent department with Dr. T. M Mathew serving as the first Head of the Department.
Faculty members of the department have completed Seven Minor Research Projects granted by University Grants Commission. Every year we are conducting seminars and workshops. Faculty have attended several international, national, regional seminars, workshops etc. and presented research papers.
Syllabus and Curriculum was revised and upgraded in 2009. Credit and Semester System was introduced. This Vocational Programme has three units- Core unit, Vocational unit and Complementary unit .In addition to the three units one Open Course and one Choice-based Course can also be opted and six weeks on-the-job training is also included in this programme for the academic flexibility.
