The department of Economics was elevated to the status of an approved Research Center by Mahatma Gandhi University in 2013. The thrust areas of research are Industrial Economics, Health Economics, Environmental Economics and Financial Economics. Dr. Cyriac Joseph and Dr. A. Jose are research guides from the Department. Four scholars were awarded PhD through the Research Centre. Currently, there are two part-time research scholars at the centre, who pursue their research leading to PhD.
