The department conducts a Poetry Workshop and National Seminar annually. Renowned poets and accomplished scholars decorate the dais and students from various colleges in India participate in the same.

To initiate students into the world of research and encourage them to practice ethical research is the aim of this workshop. Conducted every year, this is also instrumental in helping students meet the requirement of a course end thesis and a seminar presentation.

The department, according to the academic calendar, designates each month to an author. The literary works and achievements of the author are discussed and celebrated. Inter-collegiate competitions are also conducted in connection of the birth/ death anniversary of authors.
