Activities

The Alumni association of the Department is active and it enables the Department to be in touch with the former students. The alumni register and occasional homilies enable the department to be in touch with former students. The retirement function of teachers is also occasion of meeting them. Our former Students provide all the support for the well-functioning of our association activities.

Department of Statistics and Computer Applications, K E College, Mannanam , organized  a One day National Seminar entitled ‘CYBER FORENSICS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS IN CYBER SPACE’ on 29^th August 2019 jointly with IQAC and Cyber Cell Kottayam . This topic is very relevant especially among computer professionals.Aim of this seminar is to act as a catalyst to raise awareness regarding computer forensic which continues to grow as one of the most important branch of science and help in investigation of cyber crime which continues to grow as one of the most potent threats to the Internet and computer users of the cyber society.

A seminar on “Application of Statistics in Clinical Industry” in association with Alumni was conducted on Nov 1, 2018. Ms. Devi Gopalakrishnan, Senior Manager, PPD, Bangalore was the resource person. After that there was a fruitful interaction with PG students.

A one day workshop on ‘Data Science Using R’ was organized on 1-03-2019. It is an online course offered by an American Company ‘Data Camp’. They offers interactive R, Python, Sheets, SQL and shell courses. Here we conducted four hour duration programme’ Basics on R’. All the participants were successfully completed the course and the certificates were distributed by our Principal Dr. Antony Thomas and IQAC Co-Ordinator Dr. Mathews T. Thelly. In the last Session we conducted a test based on the workshop topic.   Mr. Tijo Mathews, our own faculty member was the resource person.

As a part of the extension activity programme, coaching classes were given to students of St. Ephrems School, Mannanam for solving Mathematical problems, with participation of our M.Sc Statistics (Applied) students since 2018.
