Master of Commerce with Finance
Anticipating the importance of commerce education in the years to come the management of K.E College was of the opinion that the college must have its contribution in meeting the demands of the business and industrial world and decided to start commerce education in the college. The pre-degree commerce group was started in 1981 with a sanctioned strength of 80 students. The commerce department was established during 1982 with the starting of B.Com course having 34 students on the rolls and Mr. A. J. Mani and M. George Sebastian in the faculty. Prof. J. John who joined the department after a notable period of service in S.H College Thevara was appointed H.O.D in 1983. Mr. Babu Joseph also joined the faculty during this period.
In December 1984 the department was upgraded as a P.G department with a sanctioned strength of 15 students. During this period the commerce faculty was expanded with the arrival of the Late Mr. P. T Joseph, Mr. Georgy Cyril Luckose, Mr. K.K Tomy, Mr. Georgekutty S.M and Mr. Tomichan Joseph and Adv. Jose Mundiyani. It is to be specially mentioned that Mr. P. T. Joseph was the 1st rank holder of M.Com of Kerala University in 1984. He later resigned and went abroad in 1989. Mr. Georgy Cyril Luckose also resigned and went abroad in 1987.
In 1985 Mr. George Thomas and Mr. Jose Joseph joined the faculty. Mr. George Joseph Nadackal the third rank holder of Kerala University joined the department in 1987 and Dr. Antony Thomas 1st rank holder of M.G. University in 1989. Adv. Jose Mundiyani left the college for better prospects during 1988 and Adv. Joy K. George joined as part-time law lecturer. Prof. J. John retired from service on 31.3.1999 and Prof. A.J. Mani took over the charge of the department on 1.4.1999 as the Head of the Department.
The Goals and Objectives of the Commerce department are in tune with the C.M.I Vision of education. We, through commerce education, aim at forming leaders who are intellectually competent, spiritually mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically healthy and socially acceptable, who will champion the cause of justice, love, truth and peace and who are ever open to further growth. The commerce faculty aspires towards creating a just and humane society, where dignity of the human person is respected, where unjust social structures are challenged, where our cultural heritage, religious harmony and national integration is upheld and where the poor and the marginalised are specially taken care of.
